Building Sustainability Limited (BSL) is a technology company working with the commercial property sector, developers, and occupants to design and implement systems to track and control energy consumption and carbon emissions. The Workplace Footprint Tracker (WFT) is a crucial part of an energy management system. It collects data on where, when, and how much energy is being used within an organisation. It then has the ability to integrate room booking software, such as PeopleCube’s Resource Scheduler, with the building’s energy control system to enable organisations to actively manage their energy consumption.
WFT takes the energy utilisation data and displays it clearly in a dashboard, which allows employees, managers, and other personnel to view and analyse their energy consumption. Organisations can use these visualisation dashboards to pinpoint exactly when, where, and how much energy is being wasted and uncover inefficiencies that can be properly addressed.
By integrating WFT with PeopleCube’s Resource Scheduler, organisations can begin to actively manage their energy consumption by controlling when and how much energy is used throughout the building. This is done by sharing the room and resource reservation schedule with WFT, which transfers this information to the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. The temperature of the room can then be adjusted for each individual booking according to previously specified settings, minimising energy waste. A similar process can be used to control the level of lighting as well.
